This holiday season, I wanted to bring a little extra magic into my classroom. I know how much my students love Santa, so I put together a week of activities all about the big guy in red! These Christmas worksheets for preschool, kindergarten, and first grade were not only were they fun, but they also snuck in a lot of great learning!
Setting the Stage: Our Santa Kickoff
I started by asking my students, “What do you already know about Santa?” Let me tell you, the answers were hilarious. One student said Santa probably eats pizza after delivering presents!
Christmas Activities Lesson Plan for Preschool, Kinderfarten or First Grade
Here’s how I planned our day and with plenty of differentiation options you can adapt this for different grades.
1. Christmas Word Search
We started with a simple Christmas-themed word search. It was perfect for warming up their brains and getting them in the holiday spirit. Words like sleigh, tinsel, and presents helped introduce some key vocabulary while keeping it fun.

2. All About Santa – Complete the Sentences
Next, we worked on a fill-in-the-blank worksheet where students completed simple sentences about Santa:
- “Santa rides a ______ to deliver gifts.”
- “Santa wears a ______ suit.”
It was a quick activity, but the kids loved it—and it gave us a chance to practice sentence structure and vocabulary in a festive way.

3. Santa Inside and Outside
This was one of my favorite parts of the day! Each student drew Santa on the outside, complete with his red suit, white beard, and shiny boots. Then, on the inside, they either wrote or drew what makes Santa special—things like kindness, generosity, and magic.
This activity was a beautiful way to combine art with deeper thinking, and the results were so sweet. One student wrote, “Santa loves to make people happy,” while another said, “Santa gives hugs too!”

4. Writing Craft: If I Met Santa…
To wrap up, we imagined what we’d say or do if we met Santa. Some students wanted to ask him questions like “How do the reindeer fly?” while others wanted to share their wish lists.
After writing, they decorated their pages with Christmas trees with drawings of different ornaments. The finished crafts were adorable, and the kids were so proud to take them home.
